The chapter sponsor guides and assists the groups in their efforts to improve the quality of the bands
in many fashions. This person operates under the authority of the Director and is responsible for
governing and monitoring the daily activities and affairs of our chapter. Sponsors are considered ex
officio members of all committees. They act as a consultant and advisor to the chapters and as our
liaison to the University staff.
The President presides at our meetings and represent the
organization in an official capacity whenever needed. As "leaders of
leaders," the President sets the overall style, tone, and vision of the
group and work to encourage the development of new leaders within the
organization. They are ex-officio members of all committees and work to
ensure the proper functioning of all offices and chairs. Presidents must
be effective communicaters, listeners, and teachers. On most issues, Presidents do not vote while presiding.
The Vice-President of Membership is
responsible for all aspects of the candidate program, including
recruitment, education (or "candidate classes") and the chapter candidate
ceremonies and rituals.
The Vice-President of Service is
responsible for all aspects of service within the chapter both at the University and in the community. He/she shall also be the head of the Service Committee.
The chapter Secretary is responsible for taking minutes and recording
summaries of meetings and activities throughout the year. They also handle
all correspondence with other organizations. They are responsible for
maintaining an accurate membership roster and for taking attendance at all
chapter functions.
The Treasurer is responsible for the handling of all money going in or
out of the group, and for maintaining the groups' permanent ledger.
They collect all dues and present reports on the status of the Chapter's
fiscal well-being both to the group and to National Headquarters. They
report on debts owed to the chapter and act as a collection agent for
unpaid sums as necessary. They also work closely to coordinate activities
with the Fundraising Committee.
The Guardian of Sisterhood shall encourage sisterhood within the chapter and be in charge of organizing activites such as bonding nights and chapter retreats. He/she shall also be responisble for rehearsal and orchestration of ritual music.
The chapter Historian maintains a written and pictorial history of the current chapter and previous chapters and of the Band. They are
involved with scrapbooking, recording, and the development of a narrative history of SDSU.
The Sergeant-at-Arms acts as a "property manager" for the chapter and
records an inventory of all chapter posessions. During meetings they are responsible for collecting and counting
proxies and ballots, enforcing the chapter's parliamentary documents, and
assisting the President and Parliamentarian in maintaining proper order.
