We use several different mailing lists (aka listserves) to communicate with ourselves, generally organized by membership type. It's important to note that:

• all of our listserves are joint, even though only one chapter is active right now
• members from other schools who live in the San Diego area and would like to participate in local activities are welcome to join!

General Listserve — Log in to view address

This list is for active, inactive, and alumni members of KKY and TBS who were in the chapters at SDSU, or are still involved with them. This list is used for announcements, discussion, day-to-day chapter stuff, and general chatting. It's intended to be the "normal means of communication" and traffic ranges from medium to high during the semester. If you're letting people know about an upcoming Social event, or want to remind everyone about a meeting, this is the list.

Announcements Listserve — Log in to view address

This is for large or important announcements, especially those pertaining to upcoming rituals, important meetings, events affecting the organizations, elections, voting, congratulations, or weddings. This list includes alumni and others who don't wish their mailboxes to run over with "Who's bringing sodas tomorrow?" emails.

Contrary to popular belief, people on this list DO want to stay in touch with the groups, so please don't forget about it!

Everyone who's on the General list is also on the Announcements list, so you don't have to double-post.

Actives Listserve — Log in to view address

This list is for current actives' use only, and generally pertains to meeting discussion and other items that wouldn't really interest anyone not immediately involved with them. If you want to reach the actives (and only the actives), this is the list. While this is a joint list, since only Zeta Xi is operating right now it's effectively TBS-only at this time.

Alumni Listserve — Log in to view address

Goes to all alumni on file, as well as the Historians. Send here if you're trying to reach the alumni (and ONLY the alumni) directly. Replies to messages sent over this list will go back to the list.

Candidates Listserve — Log in to view address

Candidates (when we have them), the Vice-President(s), and our Sponsor. Candidates aren't on the normal lists, so so if you want to include them in an email you need to add this address before you hit Send. Obviously, don't discuss anything the candidates shouldn't know about (eg, rituals).

The Western District has a listserve to facilitate discussion among all members in the associated chapters. More information on it is available at the District website's page on the subject

If you're not on the Western District Listserv, you're missing out on a lot! Traffic varies from low (fall) to high (convention time), but these are the folks you're likely to see the most since they're the closest to us.

The National listserv is for members of KKY and TBS across the country. There are two national mailing lists, a moderated and an unmoderated one.

KKYTBS-L (Log in to view address) is a moderated list for business-related discussions. Official announcements come out over this list. This list is also for discussions directly relating to KKY/TBS business, e.g. discussing errors in the minutes from Nat'l Convention. Since it is a moderated list, messages sent to this list are reviewed by the list editor before being sent out, to insure that the message is appropriate for this list. The delay for message review is usually less than 24 hours.

KKYTBS (Log in to view address) is an unmoderated list for all other discussion. Since the list is unmoderated, anyone can send anything to this list, and the message will be immediately sent out to the entire list. Some official announcements are sent out over this list, since it has no restrictions.

To get on the list: Send an e-mail message to: kkytbs-editor@mail.kkytbs.org. In the message body, explain that you want to be added to the National listserv. If you only want to be on one of the lists you must be on the moderated one; otherwise, specify that you want to be on both lists. Include your name, email address, school, and chapter name.
